Textile Design, BA (Hons)
The BA (Hons) Textile Design degree show presents the broad skills of our students who have specialised in surface pattern design, textile design and textile art.
Students have explored a range of contemporary issues including the future of endangered species, female empowerment, positive mental health and dreamscapes that evoke a sense of escapism. Historical research developed into collections on the themes of Inuit traditional myths and the fate of female convicts that were transported to Australia. The cohort travelled to Lisbon for a research trip early this year and have taken inspiration from the colourful streets by producing vibrant surface pattern prints.
As a course team we are immensely proud of the determination and adaptability that the Class of 2020 has demonstrated during unusual circumstances. They have consolidated their visions of final collections in innovative ways which is a testament to their resourcefulness and resilience. The students graduate with the creative skills to succeed in their chosen textiles career.
